Choosing the right pair of skis for you is based on your goals, your skills, your personal preferences and your budget.
All Mountain, Park and Pipe, and Backcountry. There is a lot of overlap, and a lot of variation within a category. The vocabulary used to describe skis is very subjective and is evolving quickly, for example "wide" or "all mountain" can mean different things to different customers.
As a rule for Unisex skis more than 160cm in length, there is no need for them to be more narrow than 80mm (give or take a few mm) under foot. Wider than that is more versatile... up to a point, after that they become noticeably more difficult to get on edge.
Women's skis are intended to be softer, lighter and easier. Often they have features that are intended to make them easier to use, and the features that work get put into the men's skis next!
